Our prison shelves are constructed using Max Secure’s advanced proprietary Herculite polymer and their installation leaves no exposed fasteners. While the prison locker’s shelves may be used by residents to store personal items and brighten up their rooms, the smooth finish means there is no space for concealment of contraband – allowing your staff to easily conduct inspections. Your facility’s residents won’t be able to modify our lockers either, as we coat every product with a pickproof perimeter sealant which coats a complete liquid barrier around every product’s exterior. The rounded corners of our lockers further ensure your staff’s safety and reduce the possibility of residents harming themselves or others.

Max Secure’s institutional lockers will also never be able to move from their place of installation. The structural adhesive mounting system leaves no exposed fasteners and allows our installation team to easily mount the shelves wherever your facility needs them.

With Max Secure institutional lockers, your facility’s staff will never have to worry about entering high security areas to perform mundane maintenance work. This is due to our prison shelves being completely maintenance free thanks to the use of our advanced proprietary Herculite polymer. This ensures your staff’s safety and cuts down on maintenance costs. Max Secure’s proprietary polymer does not produce any toxic fumes, allowing your residents and staff to always be working and living within a safe and clean environment. Our prison lockers have also been crafted to be extremely easy to clean, as its monolithic structure makes wiping them down incredibly easy for your staff and residents.

Applications for Our Prison Lockers

Facilities such as prisons, jails, juvenile detention centers, and psychiatric wards alike will benefit from the installation of Max Secure’s exceptional institutional shelves. Our shelves are designed and manufactured with your facility in mind to lead the institutional furniture industry in terms of safety and stability, and your residents’ storage needs are sure to be exceeded.

Along with personal items that remind them of home, such as photos of friends and family, residents can also use their lockers to house books. According to research conducted by the Critical Survey, there is hard evidence that proves reading can dramatically improve the lives of inmates. The research shows that a vital benefit of providing inmates with books to read was that it helped alleviate feelings of depression. Author Josie Billington writes, “A rich, varied, non-prescriptive diet of serious literature … proved especially important in encouraging participants to engage in discussion and address their depression directly.” The survey also found residents who read regularly started gaining more self-awareness as a result of their reading. Installing a Max Secure Two Shelf Locker in your residents’ rooms will allow them to store their books within their personal space, allowing easy access to literature. This potential improvement in mental health can only benefit residents and your facility alike.

Countries such as Norway and Sweden have been paving the way in terms of humanizing their correctional institutions, and to say the countries have benefitted from this policy shift would be an understatement. Prioritizing mental health, progress, and rehabilitation over punishment has helped these penal institutions lower reincarceration rates and may have even contributed to a decrease in inmate violence. Many North American prisons are now learning how to apply these methods within their own institutions.

Improving the mental health of your residents is a humanizing step to take in providing them with a better chance at rehabilitation, and we here at Max Secure want to help your facility take that next step.

Max Secure’s prison lockers are available in our 5 standard product colors: Bisque (Beige), Forest (Green), Steel Blue (Blue), Ash (Grey), and Russet (Brown). Our color schemes provide a calming ambiance to your facility’s surroundings, easing the mind of residents and staff who may have become normalized to the traditional institutional and correctional environment.
